Kenilworth Science and Technology purchased 7 acres of land, building new school

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Kenilworth Science and Technology (KST) announced on Tuesday, Sept. 27 the purchase of land to build the school’s new campus.

With the help of Building Hope, Kenilworth Science and Technology School purchased 7 acres of land to build a new campus. Building Hope is a non-profit made to support charter schools and has grown charter schools nationwide by providing facilities, financial, and operational services.

The new KST campus will be a 56,000-square-foot school and gym, offering a state-of-the-art facility and including a comprehensive computer science program to prepare for opening in fall 2023. The school’s new location will be at 8716 Siegen Lane.

“Ever since earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, I have dreamt about creating a computer science-focused school,” said Hasan Suzuk, executive director of KST. “And since being here at Kenilworth, I have dreamt about making Kenilworth a K8 school since it is a better model to serve our families. This project will make both dreams come true.”

The new campus will feature an active ecosystem that classes will engage in as a part of the school’s hydroponic, STEM, and garden programs. Students will use the outdoor ecosystem to interact and learn. KST will be expanding the grade levels from kindergarten to 8th grade.

KST will hold a Fall Festival and groundbreaking celebration on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. Members of the community, as well as families interested in enrolling their children, are invited to attend the festival.

“We are thrilled to help the Kenilworth team with their new facility that will allow them to expand their high-quality STEM curriculum to the elementary grades for families in the Baton Rouge area,” said Allison Serafin, vice president of business development, Building Hope.
