CAA Field Hockey Weekly Awards – Sept. 26
RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 26, 2022) – The Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey weekly awards have a foreign theme this Monday, with all three honorees hailing from overseas. Drexel’s Eline Di Leva and Monmouth’s Annick van Lange were named CAA Co-Players of the week, while Hofstra’s Pieke Roos claimed CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Eline Di Leva, Drexel
Junior | Forward | Lelystad, Netherlands / Almere College
Di Leva willed Drexel to a 3-2 overtime victory over Rider on Friday with her third career multi-goal performance. The junior forward opened the scoring in the third minute and tallied the game-winning goal one minute into the overtime period. On Sunday, Di Leva helped the Dragons earn eight penalty corners, three of which they would convert, as Drexel defeated Bucknell 3-0 to extend its winning streak to four matches.
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Annick van Lange, Monmouth
Graduate | Forward | Sint-Job, Belgium / Annuntia Institute
van Lange lifted Monmouth to a 3-2 overtime victory over Wagner, recording two goals, including the game-winner in extra time. The graduate student found the back of the cage first, just before the end of the third quarter in the 44th minute. After Wagner forced overtime, van Lange tallied the golden goal four minutes into the period, giving the Hawks a victory. It was van Lange’s second multi-goal game this fall and 16th in her career.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Pieke Roos, Hofstra
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Rotterdam, Netherlands / Montessori Lyceum Rotterdam
Roos notched her first career win and shutout in Hofstra’s 3-0 victory over Sacred Heart on Friday. The freshman goalkeeper played all 60 minutes in the cage, recording four saves and posting a 1.000 save percentage in the effort.
