A new update for Nintendo Switch Sports has brought the game’s newest sport with the long-awaited Golf patch, including multiple ways to take to the fairway. The launch of the motion-control sports game this year was a return to Nintendo’s classic sports series popularized by Wii Sports. The game launched with six sports including fan favorites like bowling and tennis with others like volleyball and chanbara featured as well. Now, the newest update has brought the seventh sport to the game.

Fans have known about the impending addition of golf to Nintendo Switch Sports since the game’s initial reveal early this year. Golf had been one of the most popular sports from the original Wii Sports, later being brought to Wii Sports Resort as well. Nintendo had originally announced that golf would not ship with the launch of Nintendo Switch Sports, with the game mode set to be added later in the year in Fall. Now, Nintendo Switch Sports players can finally tee up and play golf across 21 holes with multiple ways to play.

Nintendo officially revealed the launch of golf in Nintendo Switch Sports Monday evening with a short trailer teasing the game’s addition. Golf in Nintendo Switch Sports features 21 different holes for players to challenge with the game offering both online, local, and solo play. The trailer also introduces the new “Survival Golf” mode added to the game, featuring multiple players taking their shots at once with those scoring fewer points being eliminated.

The addition of golf to Nintendo Switch Sports will mark the seventh unique game mode added to the motion-control sports title. While the game was a massively popular addition to the Switch library following its reveal, the hype for the return of the Sports series has largely died down. Many fans have called for Nintendo to add more sports to the game, with the current set of seven standing at just over half the options from Wii Sports Resort. Fans have also been critical of Nintendo for not giving the game proper support following its launch.

Nintendo Switch Sports came as part of a massive Nintendo sports revival in recent years, bringing back many of its iconic sports franchises. Mario Strikers: Battle League‘s launch earlier this year came as the first new game in the soccer spinoff in fifteen years. Mario Golf: Super Rush made a similar return last year after not having a new game since 2014’s Mario Golf: World Tour on the 3DS. The addition of golf will breathe some much-needed life into Nintendo Switch Sports, giving players a new way to play.

Nintendo Switch Sports is available now for Nintendo Switch.
